Disney Plus Hotstar, which has a separate plan for India, is revamping it from September. The streaming platform is ditching its VIP subscription, which comes for Rs 399. The new plans will be available from September 1st and start from Rs 499 per year, which will be a Netflix-like mobile-only plan.
The second plan is a new Rs 899 “Super” plan. This will give Disney Plus Hotstar subscribers a year’s worth of access and the ability to stream on two devices in HD. The third plan, which will cost Rs1499 for a year, will allow the subscriber to stream in 4K for upto 4 screens simultaneously. Currently, the same plan allows watching from just two screens at a time.
“With the newly introduced subscription plans, we want to make our content more accessible to our viewers by offering best-in-class entertainment while giving them an opportunity to choose the plan that best suits their needs,” said Sunil Rayan, President & Head, Disney+ Hotstar, in a press release.
With the revised plans, Disney+Hotstarwill get ridof its lowest value, Rs 399 VIP plan that allows subscribers to watch all content on the service except for American shows and movies. However, all the new plans will offer users access to all Hotstar and Disney Plus original content, in addition to international content from HBO, Fox, and Showtime.
