Lufthansa, the largest airline company in Europe has thrown open the doors for what it calls the Aviation Blockchain challenge. Lufthansa is banking on SAP.io to help arrange the blockchain challenge. The competition has been introduced to the world of Aviation considering the huge potential blockchain has shown in the financial sector.
The challenge is going to encourage blockchain pioneers and entrepreneurs to innovate in order to make the Aviation industry more profitable than before. The team winning the challenge will be a rewarded with a pilot project with the Aviation giant along with special privileges to make use of SAP’s free office space in Berlin and also its Blockchain service.
Thorsten Dirks, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG said in a statement: “We look forward to discussing innovative solutions and initiating experiments together with our partner SAP at the Aviation Blockchain Challenge. By combining our aviation industry expertise with the blockchain technology of a world market leader, we are creating the ideal worldwide framework for addressing blockchain entrepreneurs with an affinity for travel and mobility.” The challenge was announced by Lufthansa’s Innovation Hub that is responsible for searching for new business opportunities for the company and start new ventures.
