Oppo VP Brian Shen shared another image of Oppo Smartwatch on twitter today. Shen had earlier shared the first image officially on Weibo.
The image shows Oppo Smartwatch to have a display similar to Apple watch with a rectangular-shaped screen and rounded edges, although it has two physical buttons on the right side instead of a crown on the Apple Watch. Interestingly, it has a mic hole between the two buttons, which gives us a hint that we can provide voice input.
There have been a lot of smartwatches and fitness bands in the market and the features are sort of overlapping. Even the fitness bands now have Bluetooth, GPS, and a heart-rate monitor and bigger Amoled screens, but they need to be connected to the smartphone for full functionality. The distinct feature of the smartwatch can be e-sim functionality which can work independently without a smartphone just like Apple Watch. Oppo is including heart rate monitor and will also provide the Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) feature.
We have already seen two colors, one with a crème color strap and the second with a black color leather strap. The 3d-curved glass with black dial looks stunning.
Oppo had earlier planned a launch event scheduled at MWC 2020, but after the cancellation of the event, it will organize its own event. We can expect the launch to happen in late February or early March. The price of Oppo Smartwatch is expected to be around $300.
