Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus, in an interview with CNET, confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus Series will have 5G as a standard feature. In the interview, he confirmed that OnePlus is “all-in” on 5G. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro is both confirmed to have 5G while the much-awaited budget phone OnePlus 8 Lite may too have 5G coming with the Mediatek’sDimensity 1000.
He also said, “I want to restate our commitment to 5G and our long term investment. We’ve been investing in 5G for several years and we see this as the direction going forward and one we’re very much committed to.”
OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro is expected to launch in April. The specs speculated so far remains the Snapdragon 865, 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED screen, 50W fast charging and a Quad Camera Setup of 64MP (main camera)+12MP (telephoto with 3x zoom) + 20MP (ultra wide) + 0.3MP (depth sensor).
Lau assured that the prices won’t touch the $1000 mark. But the Pro version can surely go upto the $800 mark as the last year’s OnePlus 8 Pro 5G edition retailed for around $840. While the 5G was new and not so common, the price was reasonable. With 5G being more affordable and available, OnePlus is keeping itself ahead by adopting 5G for all its new smartphones.
