MediaTek has announced another affordable Dimensity 700 with a 5G modem, aiming to make 5G accessible to the midrange consumer segment. Earlier, it also released premium and upper midrange 5G Chipsets.
The most important component is the 5G modem. It supports carrier aggregation, enables faster connections (up to 2.77 Gbps downlink speeds), and seamless handover between 5G cells. The modem also features Dual SIM, Dual Standby, and VoNR (Voice over New Radio), which offers better audio quality than previous generations. It also features global 5G NR band support and MediaTek’s “5G UltraSave” power-saving technology.
Apart from impressive 5G capabilities, the Dimensity 700 also includes support for 90Hz display, up to 64MP cameras, and multiple voice assistants, like Google, Amazon, Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, and more. The chipset also supports India’s NavIC, which means it is expected to arrive in the country soon enough.
The MediaTekDimensity 700 chipset is based on a 7nm process and employs two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The processor is also equipped with the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950MHz and LPDDR4X. It supports screen resolution up to Full HD+ with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The Dimensity 700 5G chipset also supports India’s NavIC GPS, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.1.
MediaTek has recently revealed that Dimesnity-powered phones will be launching in India in 2021 to make 5G phones more accessible. Realme X7 can be the first Dimensity processor releasing in India, although it was launched in China with Dimensity 720. We can expect to see affordable midrange smartphones powered by the Dimesnity 700 chipset to arrive early next year.
