Google has created Pragati OS,based on Android Go, aimed specifically at Jio budget phones.
During the earnings call of Alphabet on Wednesday, Google CEO SundarPichai confirmed the launch of JioPhone Next. "We've made progress with the Made for India affordable smartphone, co-developed with Reliance. JioPhone Next device features premium localized capabilities and is on track to launch in the market by Diwali," said Pichai. He spoke candidly about the budget device and the digital transformation in India.
The JioPhone Next launch was initially scheduled in September, but it got delayed due to the chip shortage. Pichai said that he is excited about the partnership with Jio, and the phone will help the local population as it can be the first smartphone for the majority of users who are still on feature phones. Like the first two Jio Phones, the JioPhone Next will also target budget consumers in India and will be most likely be priced under Rs 3,499.

The smartphone is expected to have up to 3GB RAM and up to 32GB of internal storage capacity. It is likely to be powered by a Snapdragon 215 processor that has 4 Cortex-A53 cores and an integrated Adreno 306 GPU.JioPhone Next will come with an HD+ display witha screen size expected to be 5.5 inches. The phone will be manufacturedby Neolync, which has two production units in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh and Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
