Sony has said that it will be launching PlayStation 5 in India on February 2, 2021. The premium gaming system will be available for pre-order from January 12 in the country. “We are happy to announce that PS5 shall be launched in India on February 2, 2021,” PlayStation India tweeted.
The latest edition of the gaming console came to the US and a few other countries last year. The regular edition of PlayStation 5 is priced at Rs.49,990 ($685), while the console's digital edition will sell at Rs.39,990 ($550). In comparison, Xbox Series X costs $685 in India, and Xbox Series S sells at $480.
Sony has said that the console will be available for pre-order from many retailers, including Flipkart, Croma, Sony Center, and Reliance Digital. The gaming console was originally going to be launched in India on November 19, 2020.
PlayStation 5 is powered by AMD’s Zen 2 CPU and a custom GPU from AMD based on Sony’s RDNA 2 architecture. The console has a system memory of 16GB, and its SSD capacity is listed at 825GB.
Gamers can get an extra wireless DualSense controller with the PS5. It will cost them Rs.5,990 and Rs.2,590 extra for the charging station.
