The forthcoming Mi Band X would get a magnetic buckle, and the overall device would be “extremely light and thin.”
Xiaomi has been known for launching innovative tech products in various categories. Its Mi band series has been very famous for the past few years in the budget segment. And now,a leaked slide from the company’s official presentation suggests that Xiaomi might be planning to change the Mi Band form factor we are accustomed to.
First shared on Weibo, the slide photo shows that the company is designing a Mi Band with a 360-degree flexible display. For now, it is being referred to as the Mi Band X. However, it could be an internal name for the upcoming device or a name for a possible prototype. The other distinguishing feature in the presentation is its strapless design. The forthcomingMi Band X would get a magnetic buckle, and the overall device would be “extremely light and thin.”
Flexible watches of bands are not very new, as Nubia released its Nubia Alpha smartwatch back in 2019, featuring a 4-inch bendable OLED display, a camera, and eSIM support. Also, Huami, the company that makes all the Mi Bands, has a wearable called theAmazfitXwith a curved OLED screen. It doesn’t have a magnetic clasp but features a display that bends 92 degrees around the wrist.
TheMi Band redesign seems to be long overdue, as the smartwatches from other companies as well have been sporting similar designs. Xiaomi has been increasingits smart band’s screen size, but the overall look and design have remained the same for years now.
