Amazon debuts into a new venture to take on Nest, August, and other home security vendors. With the launch of Cloud Cam and Key, Amazon has officially stepped into the market of home security devices .The devices are a smart camera and key that can be controlled by (obviously) Alexa.
When it comes to Key, it allows Prime customers to get in-home delivery. This means that delivery guy will unlock your front door and drop the package off inside. The Key is linked to the Cloud Cam that acts as the brain to the Key. This allows Amazon to decide when to open your front door for delivery.
Meanwhile, the Cloud Cam is capable of capturing 1080p resolution video and comes along with night vision. The camera also has two-way audio and a wide-viewing angle. Through the Amazon Cloud Cam app, you can even watch the activity clips for 24 hours.
The Cloud Cam is priced at $119.99. You can get it bundled with the smart lock for $249.99 if you’re buying the Amazon Key in-home delivery bundle. The Cloud Cam also is available for less than $100 each, via a two-pack for $199.99 or a three-pack for $289.99.
